About Me

What started off as an afternoon’s craft session with 2 girlfriends, turned into a business. My fascination with Mosaic Art started off in 1997. I am a mosaic artist with over 20 years' experience. In 2008, I went to Ravenna, Italy and trained with mosaic artist Luciana Notturni. Inspired and motivated by my teacher, on my return to Holland, I cut and stuck tiles in my studio, I decided to proceed further with my business, Modern Mosaics. I challenge what is written in books and push the boundaries because I believe in myself as an artist, yet I am always open to learning new approaches whether it is from students or master crafts people.

Since returning to the UK, I have now completed my degree,  BA (Hons) Product Design - Interior Product, from Bucks New University whilst getting my mosaic business up and running. I have had a number of projects both in schools and privately, as well as, parties and creative workshops.

As a fearless and innovative Artist, I am willing to take creative risks and push conceptual boundaries. I am highly passionate about my mosaic business and the creative processes that evolve not only through my own personal journey but also that of my students. As a mother, a Mosaic Artist and a nanny who can manage, multi-task and prioritise several projects proficiently, in a fiercely competitive, fast-paced, creative environment. I am under pressure as a Mosaic Artist to consistently research and develop the emerging concepts and trends. I regularly have to attend meetings with people in authority, find solutions to potential problems, process information and produce a schedule which meets the requirements of the customer. As the consummate professional brought in to design and create a work of art, you not only have to believe in your ability to produce the design, manage your time efficiently to meet deadlines, accurately produce a proposal that leads to an invoice which eventually leads to payment but your confidence must be obvious to the client and I believe that comes with my 20 years of experience. I am committed to producing quality designs be it for a children's birthday party or a mural for a school project. I am a mosaic artist responsible for teaching and encouraging others to develop their artistic techniques, therefore, my customers have to trust my judgement and feel confident working alongside me. Experienced in several artistic mediums, including ceramics, woodwork, metalwork and plastics.
